Orchidonia

This is the Orchidonia (Orchidonia stumpkei), an arboreal agamid from the rainforests of south Asia. It is equipped with chromatophores which allow it to change its color quickly and diversely, an adaptation which ties into its most unusual quality. The orchidonia's head has large, leathery, and movable outgrowths, mimicking the petals of flowers, particularly orchids. It can use these outgrowths to lure and ambush pollinating insects which come to the patches of orchids which it hides among. It can change the color of its head, along with creating spots and stripes, to blend in with whatever particular species of orchids it clambers onto, securing itself with a bristly prehensile tail. In the presence of a predator, it can change to a drabber coloration, with the petal-like outgrowths matching the appearance of dead leaves.
